Novelist who captured the lives of working people in the local cotton mills in the 19th century. Lived for some years in a house near-by.

I have been been reading a book (surprise surprise) about the old area around Greater Manchester, found a lot of photos of the Textile Industry. I used to work in a mill myself, and my Grandparents did too, my Mum was a Ring spinner. Strikes me things didn’t change a lot!
