Rochdale Sunken Gardens

Rochdale Sunken Gardens are situated behind Rochdale’s glorious war memorial and are also known as The Memorial Gardens.

The Memorial Gardens are a prominent part of Rochdale’s beautiful town centre landscape. They were built in 1948 as a Garden of Remembrance and include an ornate fountain, as well as Rochdale Cenotaph which was designed by architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, who also designed the famous War Memorial in London along with many others.
