Spotland and the Royds Family
A guided heritage walk has been arranged for Sunday 10 August 2014 between 2 and 4 pm. Booking will be essential and it will be £3 per person. The heritage walk will cover the Spotland area of Rochdale, looking at its buildings and places that were connected with the prominent Royds family of the time. Spotland grew rapidly during the 18th Century due to wool, dyeing and finishing and cotton production and the Royds family played a great part in the history of the area.
